Looking for back pain relief or neck pain relief? The way to get started is to call our office. Please have all your insurance information ready when you call our office so that we may confirm coverage. Our initial consultation and examination takes approximately 45 minutes. We have prepared this short guide as an introduction to your first chiropractic treatment. If you have any questions that we haven’t answered here, please let us know.
What will happen in my first chiropractic session with you?
Your first session with chiropractor Dr. Barry Goldstein will consist of a comprehensive examination to determine the nature of your neck pain and back pain along with a chiropractic adjustment.
What can I expect to experience after my first treatment?
Approximately 5% of new patients feel achy or have pain after their first visit, even in other parts of their body. This is normal, and is due to the movement of bones that occurs during alignment. If you are among this 5%, you can expect your discomfort to decrease in 24 hours.
When will I know if chiropractic care works for me?
Usually “acute care” (see below) reduces pain within 2 to 6 visits, if the cause is musculoskeletal in nature.
How often do I come to the office?
For the first two weeks of your treatment, it is recommended that you come in twice a week so that we can begin to break up your pain patterns, which will lead to change in the musculo-skeletal system. Depending on the type of care you choose: (see below)
What types of care are there?
There are 3 main types of care:
- Acute Neck Pain and Back Pain Care: Usually takes 2-6 visits
- Proactive Care: Approximately 6 weeks, varies for each patient. Includes recommended exercises and stretches.
- Wellness Care: One visit per month, during which you continue to work with your doctor to maintain optimum health.
Pain is not a true indicator of health. “Health” is the word that refers to those things that we do each day to ensure our wellness: exercising, receiving chiropractic care, eating balanced meals, maintaining good emotional and mental health, and participating in clinical nutrition counseling.
What happens if I do not respond to chiropractic care? / What are my other options?
In some cases, patients do not respond to chiropractic care because they have other causes for their physical pain. Pain is only an indicator by not a true monitor of health. Nutritional evaluation is another way that I can help determine a specific protocol of whole food vitamins and high quality herbs to help manage your health.
